Can you get Pregnant on Days when you’re not Fertile?

When women are trying to conceive, they often wonder if they are doing all they can to get pregnant. Even if they are tracking their ovulation cycles and charting their fertile days, they might wonder if they are able to get pregnant on days when they are supposedly not “fertile”.
Technically, you have to be within your ovulation window for it to be possible to get pregnant. However, that is not always so easy to pinpoint. Sperm can live in the vagina for up to 3-5 days after sexual intercourse and the egg itself only lives for 12-24 hours.
If women have sex a few days before ovulation when they do not think that they are fertile, the sperm can actually live in the vagina until the egg is released, and then a pregnancy will result. That is one case of how women can get pregnant on days that they do not actually think that they are fertile.
You just have to be very careful and make sure that you are tracking your ovulation properly so that you know when your fertile days actually are. If you have questions about tracking your cycle or how to find out when you are fertile, make sure to talk to your doctor.
